Larger groups

The Paris to Rome plan is costed for 6 to 8 travellers in a private minivan. For a bigger party, the same 11-day route runs by minibus, midi coach or full-size coach: see our group tours service and how coach driver hours shape the long days.

Some road days can also be replaced by a scenic train: see our European rail tours and the Swiss Travel Pass guide. To pick the month, use our month-by-month guide to Europe.

Good to know

Restricted zones in Italian cities

Venice, Florence and Rome have limited traffic zones (ZTL) that tourist vehicles cannot enter. The group walks from the nearest drop-off point, which is why the Venice day starts with a water ferry from Tronchetto.

Dress code at St Peter's

Shoulders and knees must be covered to enter St Peter's Basilica. Please remind travellers on the day before.

A busy second week

From Day 7 the group changes hotel every night. We suggest light luggage, and an extra night in Florence or Rome if the clients prefer a slower pace.

The driver's day

Up to 11 hours a day, with no more than 9 hours at the wheel. Traffic, weather or opening days can change the order of visits.

Booking notes

Check-in times, triple rooms, air conditioning, early breakfasts, the Indian meal menu and trade fair dates work the same way on all our tours. Read the booking notes.

Questions agents ask

How much does this 11-day Paris to Rome tour cost?
It depends on the month, the hotels and the number of travellers, so we quote the Paris to Rome tour at net rates for your exact dates. Send us those details and the ages of any children.
Do we need one visa for this tour?
Yes. France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy are all in the Schengen area, so one Schengen visa covers the whole tour. As Paris and Zurich have the same number of nights, travellers usually apply through France, the first country of entry.
Can we add more time in Italy?
Yes. The most common changes are a second night in Florence with a guided walking tour, or a second night in Rome for the Vatican Museums and the Colosseum. Both are easy to add, and we requote the whole file.
