Working at HCG
A Destination Management Company is the part of the travel industry most travellers never see. When a group of two hundred lands at Schiphol, when a congress fills seven hotels in Dublin, when a gala dinner has to be built in a room that was empty that morning — someone contracted it, sequenced it and stood on the ground while it happened. That is what we do, and it is what you would be doing here.
We work trade-only: our clients are travel agents, tour operators, wholesalers, OTAs and MICE agencies, never the public. That shapes the job. You are dealing with professional buyers who know exactly what they are asking for, and the standard is set accordingly.
We are a UK-registered company based in Southampton, operating across 24 European nations. It is a compact team covering a wide map, which means responsibility arrives early and the work rarely looks the same two weeks running.
Why This Industry
You will work across markets, languages and supplier cultures — not one city, and not one product line.
Trade-only means every brief comes from someone who does this for a living. You learn faster in that company.
A small team covering a wide map means your name is on programmes sooner than it would be elsewhere.
When a programme lands well, everyone on it knows exactly which decisions made it work.
Where You Might Fit
These are the areas a DMC is built from. We do not always have a live vacancy in each, but this is the shape of the work.
Running programmes in real time — transfers, guides, coaches, arrivals and the problem that appears at 6am. The heart of the business.
Hotel blocks, allotments, supplier negotiation and rate loading. Detail work where a decimal point matters.
Congresses, incentives and gala evenings — venue sourcing, run-of-show, staging and on-site delivery.
Building and holding relationships with agencies and tour operators across source markets, and turning briefs into business.
Designing itineraries, scouting suppliers and knowing a destination well enough to route it properly.
Costing, reconciliation and the reporting that closes a programme cleanly for both sides.
How We Hire
Email us with a short note on the kind of work you want and where you are based. Tell us the languages you speak.
An informal call about your experience, what you are looking for and how you like to work.
We talk through a real scenario from the desk you would sit at. Less a test than a look at how you think.
Terms agreed in writing, then a proper handover onto live programmes with someone alongside you.
Current Openings
We do not always advertise vacancies here — a good part of our hiring comes from applications already on file when a desk opens up. Tell us about yourself below and we will come back to you when something fits.
Send a CV and a few lines about the work you want to do. We read everything that comes in.
